So, you got FIFA 18 for Christmas, congratulations!
Before you start getting frustrated with the game like many new players, take a look at our top four tips on how to be a better FIFA player. Who knows, maybe these tips will even help you when you come to our FIFA Tournaments in Boca Raton!
As one of the most-played games in any gaming system, FIFA has become a must-have in your list of games to play with friends locally and through the internet. Our tips don’t guarantee you will become the next Ronaldo of FIFA, but these tips will surely help you get better.
- Don’t be the “Real Madrid or Barcelona only” player
We all know everyone wants to play as Barcelona and Real Madrid, I mean, who doesn’t want to have Ronaldo or Messi on their team with one of the best teams in the game? But just because you have Ronaldo it doesn’t mean you are a sure lock to win. Have a variety of teams you can play with and compete. Come players chose Manchester United and end up being very good despite not being Real Madrid or Barcelona.
There are hundreds of teams in the game, train with them, learn their strengths and their weaknesses and make your choice based on not only one player, but the depth, and type of players that are also in the team.
Look, you want to win right? There’s no shame in bringing on the big man and throwing cross after cross into the box for a cheap 1-0 headed winner.
- Practice the set pieces, penalties and skill moves
Not everyone knows how to do these, and when they do them it’s sloppy. These features are not leaving anytime soon so if you are trying to become a better FIFA player, you should probably practice them.
Not sure how to use them? Head to the practice arena and harness your skills. (side tip: If you play The Journey you also train a lot and it will help you grow as a FIFA player)
A good set piece doesn’t necessarily mean you get a goal right off the bat though, so keep that in mind. Sometimes a corner can disrupt the entire defense and in the scramble, you can go and tap one in.
Learn the skills moves, especially if you want to play online. Don’t be the guy that gets left in the dust and has no tools in the box to use.
- Double tap when shooting
If you put a full power shot, it will go high, we all know that. However, if you double tap the shooting button before the ball is kicked keeps it low, and will release a laser strike that will take your opponent by surprise.
- Relax with the sprint button, bro
This is the biggest mistake FIFA players make, they hold down the sprint button the entire game. Simply put, this will fatigue your players quickly. And it’s simple math, tired players equal no stamina to finish the game. So that Real Madrid team you picked because of Ronaldo will be so tired you can have the LA Galaxy beat them in the later stages of the game, and let’s be real, you don’t want to be the guy who losses to the LA Galaxy as Real Madrid.
Use sprint to outpace your opponent when needed, but not as a get out clause for a bad positioned player. Remember, real-world footballers shouldn’t be chasing the ball all match, and neither should FIFA ones.
